Rose Garden
 In 1980,
on the 25th April, a holiday aeroplane coming in to land at the Airport at Los Rodeos
crashed into a nearby mountainside: all the 146 passengers and crew were killed.
To commemorate
those killed, a rose garden has been created at the front of the church grounds and
prayers are said there on the anniversary of the event, for the departed and their
families.
It was as a result of this crash that the present international airport, Reina Sofia, was
formed, in the flatter South of the island.
